Encroachments: 328 illegal constructions demolished

Two of the shops had obtained stay orders from the Multan Bench of the Lahore High Court.

MULTAN: The district government on Monday demolished 328 illegally constructed shops in Mian Channu, in district Khanewal. The operation by the district government was supported by police as well as several NGOs. Mian Channu Tehsil Municipal Officer Saeed Ahmed said, “The operation, we have named Operation Cleanup, was started after we received several complaints about illegal construction in residential areas and encroachments on roads.” He said that the district government had conducted a survey and identified 330 illegally constructed shops. They had been served notices, he said. Two of the shops had obtained stay orders from the Multan Bench of the Lahore High Court. The operation was conducted on Monday on Boora Road, from Railway Colony to Latif Bagh Colony.
