Imran was speaking at the launch of a school enrolment program in Peshawar.
“The problems faced by Pakistan are not simple problems, but they are not impossible,” he said.
Calling literacy a big challenge, Imran said that the schools in K-P are in very bad condition. “I knew the education situation was not good but didn’t know the magnitude of the problem,” he added.
Vowing to improve the education sector, the PTI chairman said no one can now stop an underprivileged child from excelling in education.
He further said that the K-P government will favour those interested in setting up welfare-based universities in the province. “We will try to provide them with free or subsidised land and all other facilities,” he promised.

Govt Schools in Bamkhel Swabi have a lot of problems. Govt Girls Primary School Bamkhel has one thousand one hundred student with having in Incharge. 60 girls in one section. Shortage of accommodation. Shortage of teachers with one chowkidar round the clock. Govt Girls High School having 700 students. Accomodation is not availble. Shortage of school teahers. Shortage of Science teachers. 50 students in one class. Govt Higher Secondary School Boys Bamkhel having no Principal. All staff have been transferred without planning. Govt of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa must look into bad position in Bamkhel. How can I appreciate IK with out planning education department. IK must plan a visit to Bamkhel Govt Schools so to order for planning more schools accommodation. Speeches and Press Conferences are not solutions for bringing improvement in education. All are good will spoil PTI show. I understand PTI internet Jihadi not capable to bring improvement in education.
Perfect context to use the word Jihad in :)
"Root Cause" of MOST ills, misery, terrorism, hunger, despondency, overpopulation, poverty, disease, sickness, slavery, beggary and much more is EDUCATION - EDUCATION - EDUCATION. Dear Imran, start provincial race to see who meets the MDG 2015, who achieves the Constitutional Law Article 25A and place EVERY child in K through 10th grade free of cost. You may have to initially triple of quadruple the education budget, not just empty talk of 4% by the new Federal Government. It can be done and must be done. BISP and other income support programmes come much later or may not even be needed as most of such funds, collected inside or outside Pakistan ever reach the poor.
Best of luck. I wish we all work together for this noble cause.
I will change KPK into a model for all the world in 90 days. You can see change everywhere in KPK. Even USA and Europe are no match to KPK. Barak Obama: I wish that I can get visa of KPK. Bill Gates: IK is my role model.
Keep watching PTI News, PTI blogs and stay away all other news channels and newspapers.
@Nawaz Sharif: Dont worry this will take "90 days" to start.
only given statement is not a solution as such HUM DRONE GRA DAIN GE. But now he realize ground reality. KPK Governance still need to improve their proformance**
Just imagine if u had been through this inept system and not have understood any word on this paper. Complete Darkness!
@Ali Ash: Thank you for bringing these problems to the attention of IK and the government of K-P, you are so right in exposing the hardship these educational institutions are facing and I wonder about the exact situation there and who may be benefiting by employing almost no teachers to teach these kids, are there any ghost teachers on the payroll. Thank you again for your kind comments and taking the time to go to those areas and let the world know about the problems these educational institutions are facing in some areas of the K-P. Because of the people like yourself, I feel hope for the country and people.
there must be quality education, rather then just education
I will try to explain the magnitude as I have been visiting government schools in Swat district for a documentary. It is heart wrenching and pitiful. 600 students and only 4 teachers in Government Girls Degree College Barikot, 200 students and only 2 teachers in girls primary school mera mai are just a few examples of the hundreds of schools here. Some humanitarian organisation has provided around 1000 computers in 53 government schools and since 2 years they have not been switched on even once as there is no computer course in the district syllabus. Talking to the principal and teachers there, they don't see any concrete change after reforms cos the whole system is resting on flawed educational structure. The principal is a show piece and completely powerless. he cannot run the school and hold teachers responsible for their unprofessionalism. The syllabus is pathetic, no teacher training program Balkay no teachers at all. They r studying one subject in 3 languages .... English, Urdu and Pashtoo and these barriers are creating obstacles in understanding the subject in order to develop concepts. I can go on with stories of students working after school to provide for their home and at the same time holding on to their dream of becoming an Engineer, doctor and teacher....literally. IK, please visit these schools yourself and get out of Peshawar to see what is happening in KPK. Don't let anyone, teacher principal or Education District Officer play with the future of these kids!
ET Imran khan said way more things then u have mentioned.
good luck I.k for your plans. GOD bless you.
Imran Uncle, you are the best..
Good work IK. Appreciate that! (from PMLN worker)
@Sarah B. Haider: its Kyber Pukhtoon Khwa, KPK and not KP, do some research before commenting.....
What about doing it against polio? Oh I forgot, you have outsourced it to the new stakeholders in KPK.
@Mamu:
Do not worry bro. we are taking good care of MQM. Just prepare the reply against legal notice to IK from MQM on allegation of Ms.Zahra murder.
People it's KP not KPK!
Whatever you do please upload the plan on internet
and this statement comes right after, when UN released a report stating that Punjab is doing better than others in Educational reforms.... that explains
@Reporter:
Sir we KPK salute you on the outstanding efforts of your team.
May my Allah give a long life to serve this nation for a long time, as we have suffered a lot from the FIROUNs of their times.
Indeed we pakistan badly need Health and Education. and your team doing this in priority..
SALUTE . SALUTE . SALUTE .
Best wishes sincerely... :)
@Parvez: "The time for talking the talk is over………….its time to show that you can walk the walk. DO something poitive in KPK……….and then TALK about it." . 19,000 days are still left. Talk is cheap.
ANP government had similar intentions but could not sustain, I wish IK best of luck in this jehad
We love you (IK) our Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.
I knew the education situation was not good but didn’t know the magnitude of the problem,” he added.
He is "innocent". His approach towards problem solving itself proves this. He should revise 90 days period to full 5 years. And he should even say that at the end of 5th year we will have laid the foundation of change,
Appreciate that Sir but while you are at it,how about waging Jihad against the TTP as well?
He is not really working good just commitment and promises and nothing, I don't know what he did in last 3 months in KPK.
A highly subsidised education is needed from primary till master's level. At the current pace of inflation and economic disparity, those who could afford education in past are unable to affford quality education any further. Look at leading public sector universities, they are charging hefty sums per semester.
lion roars once more.....IK all the way.....
Voting for PTI is proving to be a very proud decision for me! Peshawar has become pretty clean and now this enrollment drive. Good luck IK!
This is a great initiative. Imran khan priorities are crystal clear. Health, Education, right to services, local government :) The way forward:)
@Power: ''ET you could have made the article a bit longer. IK said many things you dint mention.' Just to save his supporters from further embarrassment if whole of his speech is mentioned.I think ET has done a favor.
Great going Khan Sahab !! Keep it up.
Will you stop with all this progress in KP? You're making me look bad!!!!
Ninety days have passed still no clue of 'change or perhaps he means Ninety days of Zia.
That's our Imran khan!
The time for talking the talk is over.............its time to show that you can walk the walk. DO something poitive in KPK..........and then TALK about it.
Great work Mr Khan, We trust you. You are the last hope of this country.
Go you!!
Seems like there are two people talks in Pakistan..... or made it to news, one is Mr. Nawaz Sharief and another is Imran Khan.
It will be nice step by K-P government to focus on education. Imran Khan should monitor the progress of PTI led govt in this regard. Time for Action!
