Press Release September 11, 2013

KARACHI: Representatives of different groups of teachers at the University of Karachi formed a think tank to periodically review the situation arising due to the Sindh Universities Law Amendment Bill, 2013. In this regard, Dr. Zahoor-ul-Hassan Baber convened a meeting held at the Staff Club which was attended by members of the syndicate and other KUTS executive members. After a detailed discussion, the house declared the Sindh Universities Laws Amendment Bill against the autonomy of universities, discriminatory and anti-merit and urged the Provincial Assembly to revoke the disputed bill. The think tank supported the KUTS stance to go on strike and announced that a report will be prepared and presented to the KUTS on the disputed bill. The think tank will meet on September 16 to review the progress.
