Moualem, who spoke to reporters through an interpreter after Russia expressed hope the proposal could avert military strikes against Syria, stopped short of saying explicitly that President Bashar al-Assad's government accepted it.
"I state that the Syrian Arab Republic welcomes the Russian initiative, motivated by the Syrian leadership's concern for the lives of our citizens and the security of our country, and also motivated by our confidence in the wisdom of the Russian leadership, which is attempting to prevent American aggression against our people," he said.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had called on the Syrian regime to hand over control of its chemical weapons arsenal to international supervision as a way of staving off the threat of military action.
He had said that such a plan would help “avoid military strikes” that are being considered by the United States and its allies. Lavrov said he had already passed the proposal to Muallem in Moscow and hoped for a “quick and positive answer” from Syria.

http://www.hrw.org/news/2009/03/25/israel-white-phosphorus-use-evidence-war-crimes plz read on.
And plz watch some 9/11 documentaries. Your confused on 9/11.
What is the world coming to! nobel peace prize winner Obama lobbying for war..... ex KGB strongman figures out way for peace!!! Who would have thought!
@Omar: A better result can be had by looking up "9/11 conspiracy theories" on Wikipedia, complete with tons of references!
@csmann: http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/October2006/141006poll.htm
We have polls showing that 84% of Americans do not believe in how you believe in wat happened on 9/11. lol
@Omar: Please tell us which "chemical weapons" Israel has used as you claim, and just what are the "lies about 9/11" that you refer to???
@Omar: so 1st Iraq was,9-11 and Afghanistan were lies.Keep dreaming.As for Pakistan the whole world and most Paksitanis are aware of and don't approve of the terrorism originating from Pakistan.The US is not dependent upon trust of likes of you,or for that matter Pakistan ,to set its policy.The fact is not even Aghanistan,Saudi Arabia , Iran , Turkey trust and believe whatever Pakistan says and does.
@Omar:
Report is from Al Jazeera. Both sides of the war blame others of getting support from foreign fighters. Fact is that both sides have non Syrians fighting for them. You are denying this report because it is aljazeera reporting it, Lebanese Hezbollah has openly admitted (on their own Al Manar TV) sending fighters in support of the dictator.
One fact that no one can dispute is that there is a bath party dictator whose family is ruling the country without any elections for last 42 years. Root cause of all the current mess is lust of power by the dictator.
Reminds me of Iraq, where a bathist dictator from minority sect ruled majority sect with brutal tactics including using chemical weapons. Just that this time roles are reversed. You can blame US/Russia/Saudi/Iran for support of their respective proxies all you want but end of the day, think who gave them a reason to interfere. Is it possible that it all started with 42 years of dictatorship and oppression ????
My opinion, if US fights Syrian regime, let them. End of the war we will have one less evil (regardless who wins)
@Babashakkari: Br Only you can trust & believe on the rebels & america/england. I can't. Majority of Americans dont' specially after the lies of Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, 9/11, extra favor to Israel I think a person with common sense will never trust America. America is not only supporting the rebels but they are doing this so that they can go after Israel. These excuses of chemical weapons doesn't make any sense.

Shame on saudia arabia for asking USA to topple down Assad's govt even if they have to destroythe whole country, just because he is a shia..
Good on Syria to accept this proposal. Hope they implement this.
Shouldnot we first care about what is happening to our own citizens in their own country ,before being magnanimous about Syria and the world. http://tribune.com.pk/story/601720/second-amendment-anniversary-speakers-call-for-isolation-banishment-of-ahmadis/ How can one lecture the world about right and wrong with eyes closed to what is haapening under ones'very noses?
Great proposal............Assad is way better than those Al- Nusra terrorist....
@Aamer Khawaja: "... every country has weapons to kill innocent children, whats new abt tht?" Nothing new. And, you don't need chemical weapons to kill innocent children, either. Remember how Dagestani/ Chechen terrorists killed a school-full of Russian children a few years back?
One thing I would like to clarify among all Muslims.
Iran has never applaud any killings in Syria. Its the media which promotes that Iran is happy with killings of Sunnis.
Iran’s Ahmadinejad condemns Syria for ‘killings and massacre’

On the elevated stage of international diplomacy Putin has played a masterly hand. Obama is now in a situation of ' damned if he strikes and damned he does not '...........tough.
@Khaqi: Syria never denied it has chemical weapons, their use is in question only. USA, Russia, Germany, Pakistan, India u name it, every country has weapons to kill innocent children, whats new abt tht?
Good for Syria and the world;Good for USA also that it doesn't have to help Al-qaida and other undesirable elements in the opposition.Good for middle east that WMD are removed.
So now asad accepted he has weapons to kill innocent children
A Great Proposal in the current circumstances... This way USA won't have any excuse left to attack Syria!
America should target important govt Buildings ASAP. The more it is delayed the more difficult it will become.IF USA does not carry out its threat to retaliate if chemical weapons are used it will lost all its credibility and nobody will ever take thier threats seriosly. They need to act now, no matter what.
