ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Sunday that Pakistan should be hopeful regarding the forthcoming All Parties Conference (APC).

Addressing the press, the minister said that the conference which is to be held on Monday at 11pm would enable the government to come to a comprehensive and "unanimous" resolution on counter-terrorism strategies.

Asserting that the PML-N led government had been working hard since assuming power, Nisar said, "this is not just a conference. It will chalk out a plan of action for the government to follow."

"Political party members will also get a chance to address the conference," said the interior minister.

Karachi operation

"It has been three days since Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited Karachi," said Nisar, adding that the decision to approve a Rangers-led operation in the city had started to bear fruits.

"Sixty four targeted raids have been carried out by Rangers in the last three days which has resulted in the arrests of various extortionists and recovery of weapons," he said.

"Operation was carried out in Malir, Frontier Colony, Site, Badr commercial, Clifton, Gizri and various other areas of Karachi," said the interior minister, while reading out from a report.

Bringing his address to a close, he said, "Rangers and Police will themselves inform the public of the outcomes achieved from the operation".

Would the Local Goverment law and Karachi's right to have a full fledged city government be a part of the agnda. If not, then this APC is right away an exercise in futility.
