Tennis: Jalil cruises into second round of ranking event

Defeats Vinod Das 6-3, 6-1 in the men’s singles first round.

KARACHI:

Third-seed Jalil Khan cruised into the second round of the 10th Pizza Hut Open Super Series Ranking Tennis Championship 2013 as he defeated Vinod Das 6-3, 6-1 in the men’s singles first round yesterday at the Karachi Gymkhana.

Former Davis Cupper Nomi Qamar defeated Nazif Ahmed 6-2, 6-0 and Sikandar Hayat overcame Changaiz Hasan 7-5, 7-5 to progress into the second round.

In the boys’ U15 event, Shabbir Muhammad defeated Ebad Ahmed 6-3, 6-4 and Zuhair Raja overcame Omair Tariq 7-5, 5-7, 10-8 whereas Noman Aftab defeated Parbat Kumar 6-3, 6-2 in the boys’ U13 match. The matches will begin at 9 am.
