PESHAWAR:

The bomb disposal squad (BDS) defused two bombs in Hayatabad and Badhaber on Friday.

The first bomb was defused in Hayatabad where unidentified motorcyclists planted a device near a residence. Fortunately, residents spotted the explosive in time and informed the police, who later called the BDS.

BDS officials said it was a homemade device and an artillery shell had been turned into a bomb by attaching it to a detonator.

The second device was found in Badhaber. A package filled with explosives was found nearly 100 feet away from the Safen police post.

Meanwhile, on Thursday a bus driver Zard Ali was injured by police firing. Ali was asked to stop at a checkpoint and when he did not a Safen police official shot him. He was injured and shifted to LRH, where his condition was termed as ‘critical’. Police said they had prior information about the vehicle being full of explosives, however, the BDS staff found nothing.
