The victim, Imran Bhutto, was allegedly arrested and tortured by the New Faujdari police who later dumped him outside the Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) in Larkana after his condition deteriorated.
On the complaint of Imran’s father, Hafiz Muhammad Iqbal Bhutto, New Faujdari police registered a case against nine police officials, including the former SHO Noor Muhammad Jakhro, ASI Abdul Qadir Mahar, head constables, Allah Wadhayo Gadani and Dildar Sanjrani and police constables, Abdul Haq Langah, Gulab Dahani, Mehboob Lolai and Gulsher Mirani. No arrest was made, however, till the filing of this report.

Earlier, Shikarpur SSP Muneer Ahmed Shaikh, taking notice of the incident, had suspended DSP Jawed Jalbani and SHO Noor Mohammad Jakhro. On the other hand, New Faujdari police have also registered a case against 45 persons of the Bhutto clan over the alleged charges of causing damage to a police van and injuring CIA in-charge Bashir Ahmed Gopang.
On Monday night, New Faujdari police had reportedly arrested Imran Bhutto over the alleged charges of a highway robbery and tortured him mercilessly at the police station. When his condition worsened, the police dumped him outside the CMCH and fled.
The next day, scores of Bhutto clansmen staged a protest at a main thoroughfare where they shouted slogans against the police. When the CIA Incharge, Bashir Ahmed Gopang, reached the spot and asked the protesters to disperse, they refused, following which, a scuffle took place between the police and the protestors in which Gopang was reportedly injured.
New Faujdari police station head constable, Roshan Ali Soomro, told The Express Tribune that the police had arrested Imran Bhutto when he was standing by the roadside waiting for the opportunity to commit the crime. He claimed that the accused had a scuffle with the police in which he was injured. The police shifted him to Larkana hospital due to security reasons, he said. According to sources, Imran sustained a severe injury in his large intestine due to the inhuman torture of the police and is under treatment at the Chandka Medical College Hospital, Larkana.

Fire these police officers, then prosecute them and punish them to the max according to the laws if found guilty. They should be made an example to other police officers who has no regard for human rights. It is time that powers of the SHO should be curtailed and make them responsible for any human rights violations in their respective police stations. Pakistan police is the most corrupt and the worse kind in Asia.
