
Jail authorities in Gilgit-Baltistan said on Tuesday that extraordinary security measures have been put in place to avoid any untoward incident as eight prisoners were shifted from Gilgit prison to Ghizer jail.
Inspector General (Prisons) Wasil Khan said that law-enforcement agencies deployed around the jail and policemen have also been placed at the disposal of jail authorities to ensure that the inmates live in a peaceful atmosphere.
The official said situation in the whole country was not hidden and since the most of prisoners are facing cases in sectarian violence so enhancing security was need of hour.
He said paramilitary troops, including GB Scouts, Punjab Rangers, Frontier Constabulary and GB police, have been deployed at the security of jails.
