RAWALPINDI:

A special court for narcotics control on Tuesday sought responses from the prosecutor and the suspects on a plea challenging the insertion of a section in the case and seeking transfer of ephedrine case to an Islamabad court.

The special court judge Arshad Mehmood Tabbasum asked lawyers of the petitioners and respondents to argue on the application on the next date and adjourned the hearing till September 28.

The petition has been filed by Abdul Rasheed Sheikh, the counsel for a suspect, Ansar Farooq, who pleaded that Section 9-C of the Control of Narcotics Substances Act could not be inserted in the case as the controlled chemical did not come in the category of narcotics.

He asserted that the trial should be held in the special narcotics court Islamabad as the ephedrine quota was issued in the federal capital.

Besides Sheikh, lawyers of the other accused would also present their arguments before the court.
