A military board headed by a Major General will conduct the investigation to determine the authenticity.

Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani has ordered an inquiry into an internet video showing men in military uniforms executing six young men in civilian clothes.

In a statement, General Kayani said a military board headed by a Major General would conduct the investigation to determine the authenticity of the five-and-a-half minute video.

Emphasising that Rules of Engagement are sacrosanct, the army chief said such violations of army rules against extra-judicial killings, if true, would not be tolerated.

The video shows the young men blindfolded and being lined up against a wall. Gunfire is then heard, the men crumple and a soldier moves in to shoot each body at short range.

The video, yet to be verified, appears to have been taken in the Swat Valley.

Earlier this week, the United States urged Pakistan to investigate the video clips on the internet that appear to show Pakistani soldiers summarily executing six blindfolded young men.

Pakistan Army has dismissed allegations of extra-judicial killings and termed the videos claiming to show soldiers gunning down blindfolded men as fake.

In the series of Good actions (e.g. restoring respect for Army, not showing interest in usurpation etc.) of General Keyani it will be a good addition. I would like to say that in this particular and important case should be investigated with honesty and justice. The saying ‘justice delayed is justice denied’ should not necessarily prevail in this case as this is related to not only the families of the six killed young persons but also an institution and the hole country. Justice should and must be done with the institution of Pakistan Army as it is directly hit by this video. As we all know that our Army is trained for security and safety of the national interest and not for such like things shown in the video, therefore, investigation and stringent action against violators should be taken in case if it is proved. We all Pakistanis wish our Army prosper and become one of the strongest of all armies of the world and also wish it remain away from usurpation and involving in political issues. ThanksRecommend

I only think Pakistan Army has done a great job while sealing the nato supply line. I hope this shouldn’t be opened ever ever and also close other supply lines.

Anyways this is not surprised reaction we are all expecting these kind of actions from US/Nato.

    Shame on you US/Nato.

The investigation should have happened well before this came out and became part of the media mainstream. Its surprising that a commission has to be formed to investigate, one would expect the military to have an inbuilt system of accountability.

The fact that the commission has been formed does not pre-determine guilt. If nothing else if the video is fake it will allow for further investigation into its source. If its real then the victims can have some closure and the perpetrators punished.

The action of a few shouldn’t hold the entire army hostage. In the same way knee jerk emotional nationalism in the face of some events does more harm than good, as guilt is assumed due to the lack of assuming responsibility and hiding behind bravado. Recommend

Video is fake if watched very closely and minutely. Simply spreading confusion. If even true then they came to kill or get killed and this is proved what took place in Lahore, Rawalpindi when they tried to enter GHQ and some also say the same about Red Mosque. Well it is good that our Chief of Staff General Kiyani has ordered Inquiry on this video. Recommend

Terrorists had attacked GHQ in Military uniforms so I have no doubt(because video PROVES NOTHING) that video was fake to malign our great Army…
Ive had enough of people not being happy with Army – Because these ‘few’ are never happy. They’re not happy when actions against taliban is not taken and when the action is taken, they’re again not happy……Recommend

Army uniform is not something that can not be reproduced. It is rather easy in Pakistan. Also, we must realize that Army has alot of backing in the public now. We love the army. This can be an effort from the taliban to bring a bad name to Pakistan Army. I am almost certain that this is a fake video.

The authenticity of the video needs to be established, before any cooments. Excesses were committed during Musharraf’s tenure as the illegitimate President of Pakistan. Murder of Bughti, and many other Baloch, Punjabi, Sindi and Pakhtun citizens of Pakistan need to investigated and justice must be done. Recommend

To all those who believe that these videos are fake:

Why do you think believe so? Do you believe that the Pakistan Army is incapable of such acts? Have they never committed such acts? Read about the Army operation in East Pakistan during the uprising there. Same things my friend same things.

Besides even if they executed these guys (which I believe they did), I say Bid deal! If they killed a few blindfolded handcuffed Talibs, SO WHAT?! Talibs have killed and do still kill our captured soldiers as well. Tit for Tat I say.Recommend
