ABBOTABAD: A man died of gastro on Monday while several others remain hospitalised due to dysentery and vomiting in Pind Kargo Khan village of Sherwan. The health officials, however, denied the cause of death claiming the man could have died of other reasons. Arshad, son of the deceased Feroz Din, said his father started vomiting three days back and they relied on home remedies. When his situation deteriorated, they took him to a basic health unit where doctors prescribed him medicines and discharged him. He was brought back home on Sunday evening but could not survive. Another villager, Salik Tanoli, said the viral disease was spreading fast to neighbouring localities of Heeran, Jabi, Jarral, Rakran, Likhala, Bichah and Hal Baloch where many have shown similar symptoms. District health authorities confirmed the report of gastro in areas of Sherwan, claiming health teams have been dispatched. The officials have advised to avoid self medication and drink boiled water.
