The operation theatre of the eye department of Chandka Medical College Hospital, Larkana, has become unusable for surgeons since it was established 40 years ago and has not been upgraded since then.
Medical superintendent Dr Saifullah Abbasi has written a letter to the health secretary informing him that the existing theatre is 40 years old hence incapable of coping with the increasing rush of patients.
The doctors find it difficult to operate on the patients under general anaesthesia.
In his letter, he said that a suitable plot is available adjacent to the eye department.
A proposal is also ready and pending with the health department since March but there has been no progress, he said.
The civil society has also demanded the health department to approve
the scheme for their benefit.
