PESHAWAR:

Chief Minister Pervez Khattak paid a surprise visit to the Bhanamari police station on Sunday evening and suspended the SHO and an additional muharar for not being on duty. “We have been voted into power to change this corrupt system and we are determined to do so,” Khattak said.

During his visit, the CM also met an inmate who was kept in a lockup without an FIR and ordered his release.

This was the second surprise visit of the CM to a police station on Sunday. Earlier in the day he visited the Hayatabad police station and suspended two police officials. He ordered an inquiry against SHO Riaz Khan, who was not present at the time.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Shaukat Ali Yousafzai suspended the medical superintendent of the Saidu Sharif Teaching Hospital during his day-long visit to Swat. The suspension was ordered by the minister when people complained about having to pay for the NS1 test, which is supposed to be free of charge.
