Goals galore on opening day of PPFL

Navy, KPT play out 3-3 draw; PAF thump ZTBL 3-0.

The opening day of the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) saw two high-scoring matches yesterday.


Navy and KPT played out a 3-3 draw while PAF crushed ZTBL 3-0 in Lahore.

Sajjad Ahmed, Mohammad Amin and Mohammad Bilal scored the goals for Navy in the first-half, while KPT’s Jalil Ahmed pulled one back with the teams going into the interval at 3-1.

KPT came out revived in the second-half with Zafar Majeed’s goal, but Junaid Qadir scored the equaliser to end the match 3-3.

Meanwhile, PAF thumped ZTBL 3-0 as Irfan Ali scored twice and Amir Khan claimed a solitary goal.

Match commissioner Rauf Bari from Lahore said that the opening match pulled a crowd of at least 800 people at the Model Town Football Stadium, while around 1000 spectators witnessed the season-opener in Karachi’s KPT stadium.

In today’s matches, Wapda will play debutants Lyallpur FC in Lahore and NBP will face PIA in Karachi.
