The upcoming Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U16 qualifiers may get shifted to Lahore, according to the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) official.
The PFF Director for Development and Competitions Pervez Mir said that so far the AFC has not confirmed Lahore as the official venue for the qualifiers, and only the PFF has forwarded a suggestion for shifting the event from Karachi to Lahore due to the ongoing security situation.
The AFC event was scheduled to take place on September 25 at the People’s Stadium in Karachi, featuring teams from the UAE, Sri Lanka and Iran in Group E qualifiers.
“So far the PFF has just suggested the idea of shifting the venue, and the AFC hasn’t responded to us yet,” Mir told The Express Tribune. “We have just discussed this possibility due to the security situation in Karachi. It is yet to be confirmed by the AFC and the participating countries.”
The training camp for the national U16 team is also underway in Lahore.
