Zimbabwe players' strike casts doubt over final ODI with Pakistan

HARARE: The final one-day international of a three-match series between Zimbabwe and Pakistan faces a risk of cancellation after Zimbabwe players organised a strike over unpaid salaries, Cricinfo reported.

Zimbabwe players' union announced on behalf of its members that the team will not participate in Saturday's game unless they are paid by Friday.

According to Cricinfo, the payments were scheduled for Thursday. However, when the players arrived for a training session on Friday morning and realised none of them had been paid, most of the players quit training and all of them united in their demand to get compensated first and foremost.

This is not the first time a crisis like this has surfaced in Zimbabwe cricket. Just a week before their series with Pakistan was to begin, the players had refused to train unless they were paid their salaries for July.

A settlement with Zimbabwe Cricket eventually resolved the issue, but the players went ahead to form a breakthrough union for demanding match fees and salaries in the future.
