Pakistan managed to score just one goal from four penalty corners, evicting the team from the Asia Cup race.
Team green cannot qualify for the World Cup following its defeat in the Asia Cup semi-final.
Pakistan has played 12 World Cups so far.
Correction: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that Pakistan had participated in six Hockey World Cups. The correction has been made.

Well commiseration to Team Pakistan for not qualifying for the World Cup. On the same time, Congratulations to Team India for making to the World Cup.
As a Pakistani, Its just failure of our corrupt system and nothing else, From Airlines to our hockey team, nepotism is everywhere and merit is least factor which exists and hence not only we are struggling with economy but also with in the sports field as well. A major surgery is required in our system, Many people were looking to have this surgery in General Elections 2013 but unfortunately it did not happen.
Well hope sustains the world. So let us hope the coming days hold a ray of light for us!
Squash gone, Hockey gone and Cricket is on the verge of destruction.....BUT we have excelled very much in blame game, pseudo intellectualism, self praise and sectarian hatred.....
@Bharat: India has virtually qualified not actually. Still some time for that. My advise: When you really feel the need for commenting on sports, only give sporting comments, not sick comments. India and Pakistan when it comes to Hockey, both have a rich past, promising present and a positive future.
Earlier version of this article was not incorrect. It mentioned Pakistan has played six world Cup finals which is correct ( Four time winners and two times runners ). No need to be confused with the no. of world cups played by pakistan which of course are 12. There was no need to amend the article.
RIP Pakistan hockey which died on 30th AUGUST 2013 Aged 42 born in 1971
Though an Indian, I have always relished Pakistan Hockey. The speed, skill and charishma of pakistan players on field has always thrilled me be it Akhtar Rasool, Samiullah, Kaleemullah,Hasan Sardar,Islahuddin, Salim Sherwani, Shahbaz Ahmed, Sohail Abbas, These players and most of the others were electrifying, Natural, sustained the emerging dominance of the west in Hockey and are always a treat to watch. The natural flair of Hockey evolves to the optimum when Pakistan play India. Winning or loosing is a part of the sport so if I can still persist with my views never to discard Pakistan Hockey, then People of pakistan should never do it, instead should encourage their players as Real Hockey lies only in Pakistan and India.
@M. Emad:
Those former east Pakistanis now have 40 plus years of no deprivation yet those talented Bangalis doesn't know how to hold a hockey stick yet. Please update your trolling. Its really boring, unhumorous and completely nonsensical.

So it seems India will be playing against S. Korea now. I expected it to play against Pakistan for the Asia Cup final, oh well... But even more than that, India secured its spot in upcoming Hockey World Cup. Unfortunately Pakistan missed its chance.
Match fixed by BCCI!
@Bharat: Pathetic Indians coming to a Pakistani site just to humiliate them Get a life man we were watching when your players were a laughing stock
pakistan afraid of indian youth brigade , that why to avoid humiliate defeat against india they lost. the match ............
Dear Express Tribune, Pakistan has played 12 world cups so far.
kindly fix your script.
Thanks
At least they reached Semi-finals.Let's encourage them. South Korea is a very strong team. Pakistan has to learn a lot from them.
The moment Astro-turf was foisted on Hockey it lost it's beauty. The sub-continental flavour (way) was taken over by raw speed and force. No wonder teams from here do not fare well in a format suited to western players. Indo-Pak rivalry helped west to impose a change (tectonic) so that they can excel forever, at least in a sport.
This was the conclusion of captains of India & Pakistan after Australia won Azlan Shah cup in Malaysia several years ago.
Better luck next time Pakistan!
India has defeated Malaysia 2-0 to reach the finals.
Correction please. Pakistan has featured in 12 world cups so far not 6.
Pakistan is now a dead-horse in world Hockey !
Before 1971, main job of West-Pakistani dominated Pakistan hochey authority was to play tricks to deprive talented Bengali players. Same picture was in Cricket/Football/Basketball etc sports. During 1971 Bangladesh Liberation war hundreds of players/ organizors/ sports-reporters were killed. After 1971, sports authorities of the four (now 5) provinces of remaining Pakistan are fighting among themselves.
This poor showing in hockey is just a reflection of what else is going on wrong with Pakistan. When corruption, nepotism, terrorism and ethnicity are the key features of a society why does one expect that the same country will excel at sports? After squash & hockey I am also watching the demise of cricket in Pakistan.
chalo..now lets concentrate on Ludo!!
Sad indeed but the better team on the day won
The players physical fitness is not at par with international performing athletes. A lot of changes need to be made with new technology and methods employed otherwise things will remain the same.
How tragic, worst Hockey Era for Team Green.
RIP Pak Hockey!
What we need is an overhaul of the hockey system in this country to really return being the strongest team in Asia and in the World, just like we used to be. We do have the talent to reach those results if proper management is introduced. Will we do it?
And India has qualified for the world cup while Pakistan's is out. Wonderful day indeed :-)
its good, saves us from more humiliation.....come home and play kabaddi
Wake up and get used to it. The team played better has won.
RIP Pakistan hockey !! You had a good run. 4 World Cups, 3 Olympics & much more...

Very Sad Indeed !!! We must take out politics from Hockey ..
