In the latest of a bizarre chain of events, a woman wanted for triple murder was found dead outside her house in Lower Dir on Thursday.
On June 20, two bodies bearing marks of torture were found besides the remains of a burnt down car near the bank of River Panjkora, said Khal police official Amir Rahman. Initial investigation revealed three men were killed by Mumtaz Bibi, wife of one Abdur Rehman, but the third body was never found, he added.
The deceased were said to be residents of Tormang Darra and the charred vehicle was believed to be theirs. Rahman said the men allegedly had an illicit relationship with Bibi and used to visit her when her husband was away for work in Saudi Arabia. He added after some time Bibi told the men not to visit her, but they did not pay any heed.
On the night of June 20, she met the men near the riverside and stabbed each one multiple times, killing them on the spot. While it was not clear how she managed to overpower three men and then set the vehicle alight, police said Bibi later escaped with her father Rozi Khan, who was arrested by the police for multiple robberies soon after.
On Thursday morning, Bibi’s brother Sartaj Khan came to Khal police station and informed officials her sister visited the house last night. He, however, added Bibi’s bullet-ridden body was found from a nearby field the next day. The deceased was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital, Timergara and a case was registered against unidentified persons.
