KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has termed the deaths of people due to dengue virus a sheer negligence of the provincial health department. In a statement issued on Wednesday, JI former lawmakers Muzaffar Hashmi, Laeeq Khan, Nasrullah Khan Shajih, Younus Barai and Hameedullah Khan Advocate have regretted the deaths of four people in the last 24 hours. “Despite billions of rupees allocated for health, the provincial government has failed to ensure provision of basic facilities and hygiene to the people of the city.” The JI former lawmakers were of the view that the people have been deprived of basic health facilities. The department has failed to take any effective steps in eradicating dengue virus and then it has failed to take proper care of its patients in hospitals, the statement said.
