The Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) was ecstatic after the successful conclusion of a level-II coaching course, which was conducted under the supervision of the Asian Squash Federation (ASF) senior technical official Chris Clarke.
The federation felt it was probably the best seven-day coaching clinic – held at the Mushaf Squash Complex in Islamabad – in recent years as it included 42 participants despite the attendance fee.
Even though there was no foreign participation in spite of the PSF’s invitation to officials from different Asian countries, the body felt that local coaches would benefit from the training.
“It has been one of the most successful coaching courses staged by the PSF,” a senior official of the federation told The Express Tribune.
“We’re proud of the fact that so many people came to upgrade their knowledge of the game and paid a fee for it. Even though foreign candidates weren’t in attendance, coaches in Pakistan came forward and made it a success and this will hopefully help Pakistan squash in years to come.”
The level-II course is expected to boost the number of qualified coaches at the grass-root and departmental levels.
“We hope that most of the participants will implement what they have learnt and will be cleared by the ASF in their final result,” he concluded.
It should be mentioned here that ever since the appointment of PSF Senior Vice President Razi Nawab as ASF vice president, Pakistan has been able to host several important events.
Earlier in May, the PSF hosted the Asian Senior Individual Squash Championship while they were also given hosting rights for the 2015 World Cup — however this is dependent on the World Squash Federation’s approval.
