India emulated Pakistan in the league phase by finishing on top of Pool B after thrashing Bangladesh 9-1 in their last Asia Cup group match yesterday in Ipoh, Malaysia.


India, who remained unbeaten in the first stage, had two hat-trick heroes in Rupinderpal Singh and VR Raghunath. Singh ended as top scorer with four goals while Nikkin Thimmaiah and Mandeep Singh grabbed one each.

The other match of the day between defending champions South Korea and Oman was delayed due to heavy downpour and did not begin till the filing of this report.

The semi-final line-up was confirmed after yesterday’s round of matches as Pakistan will meet South Korea while India will clash against hosts Malaysia.

Pakistan finished on top of Pool A after wins against Japan, Malaysia and Chinese Taipei.
