This is the first time in 15 years that Zimbabwe has beaten Pakistan in an ODI. Their last win came in a 1998 game played at Sheikhupura.
After Pakistan set them a target of 245, Zimbabwe's openers Hamilton Masakadza and Vusi Sibanda opened in commanding fashion to establish a century partnership.
Masakadza, who was awarded Man of the Match, helped his team with a champion 85, an innings featuring nine fours and one six. After he got out, Zimbabwe seemed to face a tricky final few overs, but an aggressive Sean Williams and skipper Brendan Taylor saw their team safely to the end.
The Pakistani bowlers seemed clueless throughout. They were struck freely all over the ground before Saeed Ajmal finally grabbed the first wicket in the 24th over.
With the rest of the attack seemingly out of answers against the batsman, it was Ajmal again to dismiss Masakadza with Zimbabwe at 176.
It was too late, though, and Pakistan never quite managed to stem the runs at any point in the innings.
As victory appeared within a hand's reach, the talented Sean Williams hit a six off Mohammad Irfan in the penultimate over to seal a historic victory for his team.
Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first.
A topsy-turvy innings saw Zimbabwe miss five chances in the field but still hold Pakistan to 244 for seven - a decent but achievable score on a dry Harare Sports Club surface.
Misbah shared in a 99-run stand for the third wicket with Mohammad Hafeez, who made 70, and finished unbeaten on 83 after holding the innings together as Pakistan's middle and lower order failed to fire.
It could have been far worse for the tourists had Zimbabwe held their catches - both Nasir Jamshed and Ahmed Shehzad were put down during an opening partnership of 56, while Hafeez was let off on 10 and 55.
Misbah required no such luck in a well-paced knock that saw him go to fifty in 62 balls before opening up towards the end, and his two sixes off Tinashe Panyangara in the final over of the innings ensured that Pakistan had something to bowl at.
Panyangara had been the pick of the Zimbabwean bowlers up until that point, and would have reaped better figures than his none for 38 had it not been for Zimbabwe's poor catching.
Tendai Chatara was more fortunate in that regard, and took 2 for 32 in his 10 overs.
Earlier, Pakistan beat Zimbabwe by 19 runs in the second Twenty20 match on August 24th and clinched the two match series 2-0.

The whole cricket team including board management are nothing but a bunch of opportunists. PCB has become a mini autocratic state where only favoritism rules.
Any more theory to failure? fix? invitation tour? What else? Can't take defeat graciously. You should understand that other team are also playing for winning.
It seems a tactic of PCB to lose a game and invite Zimbabwe for Pakistan tour.
@Raj Kafir: I try never to comment on news reported on foreign media, but with all due respect what you are saying here is pretty ridiculous, I am not arguing what you are saying is incorrect but if what you are saying is true then everything is fixed (which also i don't disagree with totally) but please make up your mind, it can't be true that when your team wins its teams good effort and when they loose its fixed, so please take a side and stick to it.
We badly missed Umar Akmal today. PCB played his sickness drama to keep him out to bring in Sarfraz and he scored 7 in 18 balls in last ten crucial overs
congrats Zimbabawe for their win after a long period Since 1998 Alot of works will be done by pakistan and a Big question is raised now About bowling Dear oh dear what a finish by Pooriest country in the world Godness me!!
Now Zimbabwe should tour Pakistan.
LOL
@Tauqeer Ahmed: Misbah played at a strike rate of 97.64. There's no point in criticizing him.
It is certainly a shameful defeat for Pakistanis...They should work focus on their batting....disheartening performance...
Selfish tuk tuk.......
Effect of Main Hoo Shahid Afridi . Lol
@Tauqeer Ahmed: Misbah scored 83 of 85 balls with his half century coming of 62 balls. What else do you expect? 183 runs of 85 balls?
ha ha ha ha, LOL, lost to zimbawe.
Now for the good news - Misbah ul Haq highest scorer in ODIs in 2013 till date. He has the boys' dismal performance to thank for that distinction.
Watched the match. Pakistani team seemed disinterested in winning!
Why bother about cricket. Lets talk about national sport :) Pak beat China in hockey by 13-0
@lh You meant Umar Akmal not Kamran Akmal right?
Wonderful, now Zimbabwe should announce a schedule for Pakistan tour.
Moin Khan said that pakistan wont show any linency again zimbabwe and some might be claiming it to be another fixing by pakistani players.
@Ih ..Pakistan did not lose because their batting was too bad, they lost because their bowling was ordinary. Also Afridi again failed to deliver with bat or ball. What you said about Kamran Akmal could also have been said about Razzaq. It is better for Pakistani team to not have Kamran or as a matter of fact any Akmal behind the stumps. We have lost so many games because of these keepers dropping critical catches and missing runouts/stumping chances.
Though Misbah is making loads of half centuries but the fact is that the number of balls he consumes to make his 50 in todays cricket only ends up Pakistan with mere 200-230 total.
boasting of the worlds Best bowling team...with its full strength .....against the weakest team....
100% Match fixing
They will have to win both games now to win the series. I think Zimbabwe should be given credit. They played well against one of the best attacks. But it is still upsetting to see them lose, because they were expected to win against Zimbabwe.
