Two students were hurt on Monday when a clash broke out between two groups of students at the Islamia Arts and Commerce College.
The conflict broke out allegedly over cheating in examinations, according to the police. The law enforcers fired tear gas shells and also baton-charged the students in a bid to disperse the crowd. According to college officials, around half a dozen students were detained by the police but were released later. The two students had sustained minor injuries.
The college was designated as an examination centre for the students of Government College of Technology, SITE. “The GCT students were trying to cheat and we tried to stop them,” said an official of the student committee of Islamia College. Some infrastructure was damaged during the conflict. “It was a clash between two groups of students over cheating,” confirmed SHO Safdar Mashwani.
