BZU bachelor’s results: 39.2 per cent of students graduate

Girls bag top positions, VC says results are encouraging.

As many as 17,829 students passed the bachelor’s examinations held by the Bahauddin Zakariya University in Multan. The results were announced on Monday. 


The top position in both humanities and science groups were bagged by girls.

As many as 45,373 students (34,737 humanities group and 10,636 science group) sat the BA/BSc examinations. Of these, 20,794 were male students and 24,579 female. The pass percentage among male students was 25.71 and that among female students was 50.7.

In science group, Nayab Aisha of Punjab College came first with 709 out of 800 marks.

Samia Bakhtawar, also of Punjab College, came second with 707, and Yasmeen Iqbal of Government College for Women Vehari third with 695 marks.

In humanities group, Nida Ambreen of Government College for Women Jalalpur Peerwala came first with 638 marks, Ayesha Anum of Government College Shah Rukne Aalam Colony second with 625 marks and Asiya Batool of Government College for Women Jalalpur Peerwala third with 624 marks.

Talking to The Express Tribune, BZU Vice Chancellor Syed Khwaja Alqama said that the results were encouraging. He said there was a need to improve the quality of education by investing in it.

Degrees of colleges in 17 districts in south Punjab are issued by two universities- BZU in Multan and Islamia University Bahawalpur.

According to BZU spokesman, over one million students register annually with BZU in different programmes.
