MANSEHRA:

Children in a village of Mansehra caught a stray leopard cub, which was later shifted to Dhodiyal Pheasantry where six leopards are already caged, wildlife department officials said on Thursday.

Twelve-year-old Saqib, a resident of village Dharmang, called his friends over after he found a cub in the bushes. The animal was then fastened with a rope to a pillar near his house.

“I had the cub with me for over 48 hours. I served him milk without fear of any attack,” said the young boy, while speaking to the media.

Saqib added that when he first saw the leopard cub he got scared. However, when his friends came they were able to overpower the big cat together, he claimed.

For villagers in the area, encountering such wildlife is not rare as they are often attacked by the dangerous animals that come from forests around Dhodiyal.

Officials said the cub must have accompanied his mother to Dharmang where they separated. The cub is said to be a two-month-old male. There are said to be 40 pairs of such species in Hazara division.

Ummm... Did he just steal a cub that the mother had hidden away while she went hunting? I think that's probably what happened. Poor leopard mom!
