FAISALABAD: A team of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) on Tuesday sealed a weaving factory in Samanabad over gas theft. SNGPL spokesman Saeed Chohan told the media that the team conducted the raid on a tip-off. “The factory had installed a fake gas supply meter…the gas was being used to run electricity generators to power 108 looms in the factory,” he said. Chohan said the owner of the factory fled with the meter when the SNGPL team raided the place. He said a watchman, Akram Ali, and electrician Muhammad Anwar had been arrested. “It is estimated that the weaving factory was stealing gas worth Rs15 million annually.” The SNGPL spokesman said a complaint had been filed with Samanabad police against Mian Aamir, the owner of the factory. “A detection bill is also being issued,” he added.
