ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has taken back its decision to increase taxes on CNG following a request by CNG station owners. The FBR had recently increased the tax rate on CNG from 26% to 32% while gas companies passed increased taxes in their gas bills. The FBR has directed all gas distribution companies not to include the additional amount in gas consumption bills for CNG stations which has been termed a success by the All Pakistan CNG Association. Chairman Supreme Council APCNGA Ghiayas Abdullah Paracha said that the decision has raised concerns among all stakeholders who would have suffered a lot if the decision was implemented in this era of double digit inflation. Paracha lauded the FBR authorities for taking a right decision in the interest of masses. He said that FBR has provided interim relief to consumers. He said that CNG prices will remain the same after the final decision.
