In a statement following the verdict of the court, Chaudry Sarfraz Anjum Kahlon, political advisor to former President Musharraf, described the indictment as "deeply flawed and disappointing decision based upon reasoning that is devoid of reality."
"Politically motivated cases will be fought against in the courts of law with full rigour and it will be demonstrated in forthcoming proceedings that the case lacks any form of legal merit," he stated.
Kahlon warned that "the opponents of Pervez Musharraf will not succeed in their malicious designs and those pursuing the path of revenge were not acting in the best interests of Pakistan."
Kahlon further stated that he was "confident that Pervez Musharraf will be ultimately acquitted in all the fabricated cases and will shortly return his efforts of serving the people of Pakistan."
A court in Rawalpindi had formally indicted former military dictator on Tuesday with the murder of former premier Benazir Bhutto.
Bhutto was killed in a gun and suicide bomb attack after an election rally in 2007, weeks after she returned to Pakistan from years in self-imposed exile.
