Helping hand: Hands appeals for funds for flood victims
Hands has allotted Rs2.5 billion and has appealed to donors for further donations for the cause.
KARACHI:
Volunteers and officials of the non-governmental organisation, Hands, worked together to evacuate people from the villages situated in the river bed of River Indus to relief camps set up by the district administration.Meanwhile, the NGO’s medical team provided medical treatment on the site and through mobile camps to the affected people. The NGO has established fully equipped disaster management centers in Sukkur, Thatta and Karachi from where emergencies can be dealt with swiftly. The disaster risk management centres are equipped with emergency shelters, safe drinking water, food, transport for evacuation, emergency toilets and medicines. Hands has allotted Rs2.5 billion and has appealed to donors for further donations for the cause.
