Leaders and representatives of over 20 political, religious and secular parties have threatened to observe a complete shutter-down strike and stage sit-ins outside the offices of the SSP, the district commissioner and at National Highway on August 25 if no action was taken against Amanat Ali, popularly known as Don Golo. They alleged that he was involved in an illegal and un-Islamic business by which he doubled his customers’ money within a month.
This warning was issued during a multi-party conference held in Daharki at the residence of the former union council nazim, Mian Manzoor Ahmed, on Sunday evening. The conference was jointly hosted by the Pir of Bharchoondi Sharif Mian Abdul Malik and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Ghotki chapter district president, Mian Rehmatullah.
The participants criticised the tight-lipped attitude of police officials and the district administration over the issue. The speakers said that almost all religious scholars have termed the Don’s business illegal as it was based on interest, which is forbidden in Islam. They lamented that, besides being involved in the illegal business himself, he was luring thousands of others to join him with prospects of quick riches.
The speakers said that Ghotki district was the second largest hub of business after Karachi and Don Golo’s business was a conspiracy against the people of the district. They claimed that, due to the illegal business of Don Golo, a large number of people had withdrawn their money from the banks and other financial institutions to invest with him which had caused considerable damage to commercial banks in the district. They said it was the duty of police and district administration to eliminate the illegal business of Don Golo and threatened of dire consequences if they failed to do so.
The convention was reminded that Amanat (Don Golo) was employed as a watchman for a contractor and now had become a millionaire through means unknown to anyone. They requested NAB to investigate the matter alleging that Don Golo was looting the poor with the support of influential people.
The ‘Don’ protests
Meanwhile, Don Golo and more than 400 of his supporters staged a sit-in outside the SSP office demanding the withdrawal of the FIR registered against him by a Mirpur Mathelo-based journalist. He also demanded the police arrest the journalist for allegedly demanding Rs1 million to shelter his illegal business. Mirpur Mathelo DSP Mushtaq Qureshi assured him of registering an FIR against the journalist after which the blockade ended.

Beware of easy money . easy come easy go .
Hmmm something is amiss here. If its that easy to make money then why are so many so poor world wide ? Beware of easy money . Easy come easy go ..
Although it an illigal business run by DON Golo, people who newly involved/invested their money, now have lost their earned money and destroyed their business as well. Action to be taken against him to recover all the money and return to the peoples. Meanwhile Distt: Ghotki is backbone of the business, therefore Distt: Administration and Police Deptt should help to resolve the problem, so people who lost their money can stregnthen the business again.
I don't know whether Double Shah was involved in illegal activities but I do know that illegal chandas are collected in the name of ration for madrassah or building of mosques on illegally grabbed lands. And recently NAB uncovered a 'halal investment' scam by a Mufti of Lal Masjid. How about some condemnation for these too by religious scholars?
This is a clear case of fraud - only initial investors get money, and thereafter nothing works and this fellow abscond leaving thousand of depositors weeping. Local police also has share in this fraud business.
@SM: WHY is everything is ‘conspiracy’ for Pakistanis?? * Because we are creation of CONSPIRACY.*
Could this be Pakistan's Madoff?
Is this Pakistan's Madoff?
what about money peer and mazars get is it legal and where they spend any Islamic way???????
It's a pyramid scam. He pays old investors from the money taken from new investors and keeps repeating this. As time goes by and he becomes more famous, more and more people invest with him and he accumulates more and more money, until one day he decides to do a runner and disappears with everyone's money. Looks like a lot of stupid people will soon be stupid AND poor people.
So commercial banks are Islamic way of investment?
Just curious about what his business model is. can anyone update on this?
Islamic or not, this sounds like a Ponzi scheme and the authorities should act before people lose their hard earned savings.
WHY is everything is 'conspiracy' for Pakistanis???
The speakers said that almost all religious scholars have termed the Don’s business illegal as it was based on interest, which is forbidden in Islam. Why don't they shut down regular banks as well? Probably because they have their own money in them.
