Days before the by-polls, Imran Khan and Maulana Fazlur Rehman upped the ante on their vilification campaign against each other in a bid to garner maximum seats in the Aug 22 polls, especially in K-P.
JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman had claimed earlier that PTI chairman, Imran Khan is a Jewish agent. PTI had also filed a defamation suit against the JUI-F leader.
Fazl said he would defend himself against the charges levelled by the PTI chief, and has instead asked his legal team to prepare a case for Imran Khan’s disqualification from parliament for violating the Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
Fazl has accused Imran of maintaining relations with his ex-wife, which was against the tenets of Islam. Moreover, he has alleged that the PTI chief pays maintenance charges to his ‘illegitimate’ daughter as per the directive of a Los Angeles court. Such acts are against the Shariah law, the maulana has maintained, and are the grounds for a case to be filed against Imran Khan.
“JUI-F initiated the campaign to malign Imran Khan with a specific agenda to exploit people’s religious sentiments,” said a PTI leader.
PTI chief Imran Khan on Saturday said there was no need of any Jewish agent in the presence of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, also calling him Munafiqur (hypocrite) Rehman, to which the latter has decided to sue Imran for blasphemy. Rehman is one of the known names of the Almighty Allah and adding the word munafiq (hypocrite) to His name is a blasphemous act in line with the teachings of Islam, Fazl argued.
Fazl asked his legal team to file the suit with the relevant court without delay. However, it is yet to be filed.
