Turbat ambush: Ismail Buledi escapes assassination bid

Buledi was heading his home from a local market when gunmen opened fire on his car.

Former senator and leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazlur Rehman faction) Ismail Buledi escaped an assassination attempt while his nephew sustained injuries in the Shapuk area of Turbat district on Saturday.


Balochistan Levies official Abdul Qader Baloch said that Buledi was heading his home from a local market when gunmen opened fire on his car from nearby mountains.

The Balochistan Levies personnel rushed to the spot, cordoned off the area, and started a search operation for the gunmen in the nearby hills, he said.

Buledi remained safe in the attack, but his nephew who was also travelling with him sustained wounds. He was shifted to the Districts Headquarters Hospital.

It was not immediately known who carried out the attack and why. Police registered a case against unidentified gunmen and started investigations.
