By-election preparation: Section 144 imposed in Hangu

Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure will be imposed in the city and its outskirts till August 25

HANGU: The district government of Hangu has imposed Section 144, putting a ban on pillion riding, display of weapons and aerial firing ahead of by-elections to be held next week. According to a statement issued on Friday by Hangu Deputy Commissioner Syed Ahmad Jan, Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure will be imposed in the city and its outskirts till August 25.  The statement further said anyone found violating the orders would be charged under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code which carries a minimal penalty of six months in prison. The Hangu PK-42 constituency was won by the late MPA Farid Khan who was gunned down by unidentified assailants in June. Brother of the slain MPA, Shah Faisal, will be contesting by-polls from the constituency.
