Shiv Sena storms set of Bigg Boss

Party chief Bal Thackeray says Pakistani artistes will not be allowed to appear on "Big Boss".

Even as Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on Tuesday said the presence of Pakistani artists on “Bigg Boss” would not be allowed, party activists barged into the campus of the bungalow where the TV show is being shot and beat up some security guards, reported the Press Trust of India (PTI). The Shiv Sainiks shouted slogans and protested the move by Colors TV channel to include two Pakistanis on the show - model Veena Malik and TV actor Ali Saleem, whose TV persona Begum Nawazish Ali is very popular in both Pakistan and India. Police say the activists beat up some private security guards.

A spokesperson for the TV channel declined to comment on the issue.

Thackeray vowed on Tuesday afternoon that his party would not allow the show to continue at any cost.

“In India nowadays, we are destroying our self respect. Under the guise of the show, Pakistan’s green poison is being spread in this country. Whoever loves this country, we shall ask for their support and not permit the show to continue, come what may,” he thundered.

He said the Sena would not be cowed down and his activists would disrupt the show. Even the Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has protested to condemn the inclusion of Pakistani actors on the show and have demanded that the TV channel evict them from it.

“Bigg Boss”, which is hosted by Salman Khan in its fourth season, aired its introductory episode on Sunday.

Not willing to take any chances, Mumbai police have beefed up security outside the TV channel’s offices in Andheri east since Monday.

sneha | 13 years ago | Reply nw about being against pakistan... after terrorist hit for continues 3 days and killed 283 people ans injuring 500 do u think he will be in love with ur country pakistan? according to him u attacked his land the land of marathis and later king shivaji... who had nothing to do with pakistan , but still pakistan attacked them.. therefore the hate against pakistan. now about comparing it with taliban... has shiv sena ever done 26/11 or 9/11 in pakistan,china or any other country? has shiv sena taken swear to kill the entire race of america or any other country? do they bomb around in trains busses building etc??? has shiv sena any time done kargil type incident day after peace process? is shiv sena banned org worldwide?the answer is NO!!! i am not supporter of shiv sena nor am i a Marathi ,they are a menace to us too..trying to dominate us with their ideology..but accepting it or not is finally our choice..let the dog bark..whats the use when we finally in=gnore it anyway? it us who finally has to vote them..do we vote ??no. did they gain power no!! in a democratic world everyone has the right to express his views..if they protest.its their right..if they break codes ..they get arrested.. and finally at the end of the day people win ... because it is we who vote... shiv sena and taliban cannot be compared... one is right wing other a terrorist organistan banned worldwide.. and for them being anti pakistan is understandable any person will not tolerate his state being bombered and attacked by a another country and next day shake hands with them and invite them without letting the perpetuators of attacks we punished

sneha | 13 years ago | Reply i dont think shiv sena has ever blasted/hijacked/9/11,26/11 type attacks around the world. so the comparison is simply not justified. as far as their ideology is concerned ,they want cheap publicity to attract people to it..caz people dont care or vote for hate parties like shiv senas. they change their agenda everyday making a fool of themselfs ,be anti north indian,ban on valentine day, anti south indian,anti muslim,anti foriegn langaue and offlaty anti pakistan. ) they are marathas, son of soil(maharastra) and they revere the once king of Maharashtra shivaji, of those times and therefore... "shiv sena" (shivajis batalion) therefore according to them they are defenders of mahartra and its people therefore they are pro marthas... first marathi speaking people comes under their priority, therefore when things effect marathis in bad light the react by protests against those people who caused inconvience to marathis... ne any one bihari,south indian ,forienger,muslim.

This was never the case when I was growing up in Mumbai..... [ prob also to do with the fact that I keep gettng mistaken for a Pakistani in London... no harm in it, it's just that it is not my identity!! :-) ]

Ashutosh | 13 years ago | Reply Dear Zara, In India most of the rioters had gone scot-free irrespective of their religion. Most of the cases relates to lack of evidence or witnesses turning hostile. However there had been some silver linings too, like: 1. Sajjan Singh and Narendra Modi had not been let off the hook. 2. Terror attacks had not led rioting, something that the terrorist will like to happen. 3. Ayodhya, despite the adverse verdict, had not resulted in an unrest. 4. One of the main accused Dara, bajrang dal activist, was recently sentanced to death my a lower court in Orissa. Also, please understand I am not a Shiv Sena supporter. Further, I have full trust in all Indian with no doubt on the patriotism.

ambreen | 13 years ago | Reply @ zara........what you said maybe a 100% true but things this side of the border are even worse.If in India Hindus and Muslims butcher each other,then in Pakistan we kill our own............what happened in sialkot is a shinning example.I have seen all kinds of footage on Rwanda,Bosnia,heard first hand stories of horror from an Albanian friend but what this incident did to me is nerve shattering.My 80 year old grandmother who saw the partition and all told me that until the sialkot incident, in which two innocent kids were murdered by a mob,she felt that she had seen everything.Killing in the name of religion my not be an excuse ,can never ever be justified but atleast u can understand the psyche behind it ..........what goes on in the streets of Pakistan is unacceptable!

zara | 13 years ago | Reply Dear Ashutosh The shiv sena does not need guns and bombs to kill people! it seems that knives and swords will do the job very nicely! also, shiv sena led policemen throwing muslim children back into the fire as they were trying to escape is a reality expressed by a [hindu] fire fighter colleague of my dad's! these were realities from the 90s riots started by the shiv sena- you need to read Maximum City by suketu mehta for an eye opener. I feel it is worse that a "recognized political party" like the SHiv sena can resort to such acts and get away scot free! I havent seen Bal thackery serve any prison sentence for his self professed involvement in the muslim genocide! zara p.s i happen to be a very patriotic Indian but the truth is the truth!

Moving to america and meeting indians for the first time i realized that we have been fed so much lies abt one another.i mean there are good and bad ppl in every religion and every country,with that acceptance,why can't we just treat each other like human beings,forget what happened in the past and for Gods sake move on.We all need to work on the bigger issues facing both our countries.we both have an exploding population,extreme poverty,resources are getting scarce every day,environmental issues.............the list is endless.Seriously its abt time we put all the mischievous clerics,pundits,corrupt politicians and bureaucrats behind bars for good and take the reigns of our countries in our own hands before its too late!

Ashutosh | 13 years ago | Reply Dear Ms. Kashif, My intention was never to ignore the wrong doing by Shiv Sena and others (the demolition moment was lead by BJP) who resulted into the demolition of The Babari Masque (the politically correct term is "disputed structure"). Many of you may not be aware that criminal cases are pending against various individuals in Indian courts. Sooner or later you people will hear that decision too and will know how the law catches with all those culprits. This is continuing despite a 6 year BJP rule both at the center and at the state of Uttar Pradesh. Please remember that we are a sound democratic country and we can not let any culprit scot-free. The demolish is a national shame and gave all India- bater a chance to shout "SHAME" , though the incidence is 18 years old. Now coming to the point of your debate, the Demolition was probably to intended to kill innocent people like a terrorist do. And what followed was a hindu-muslim riots and again probably not can act of terror. The coming to your comparison of Shiv Sena and Taliban, is Taliban a political party (Shiv Sena is a regional political party registered with the Election Commission). Shiv Sena is fighting election for the last 3 decades and once did manage to win and was party to in Maharashtra state. They don't kill any one deliberately though they often turn violent during protests. Did taliban stood an election? Did they follow your constitution for enforcing law & order? NO! The comparison is wrong!

Why only private gaurds were employed ? why? Should it be assumed that it was by design ? Because there is no other explaination that can be rationally given t satisfy the question because the only other option is ignorance which will be strongly rejected. And if so, thenwhat message was to be conveyed? to whom? and what message? Who wanted to convey it? through who ? to who? That makes it very interesting the whole scenario. Was it the Govt. Via Shiv Sena to the people of Pakistan? To degrade them? to injure their esteem? what was the purpose? I am glad that there are few Indians who argued that these Rightist politico/militants are in minority. When we gave this argument about the right wing Pakistani such goups then for them It was Pakistani people and Govt. in general who collectively were terrorist tendencies. I am glad that they can, if want, to see delibrate clear violation of the basic Logic. Time will decide who was wrong and who was right but I think its the responsibility of the TVchannel that if they can't provide security to two Pakistanis then send them back and save themselves and their Govt. from further shame in future . Im sure you're a North Indian; Im not an Indian, I follow your country's news merely by what your media posts/telecasts. I read about Shiv Sena's chief's comments against North Indians. south Indians, Biharis in a past version of one of your leading newspapers. Google if you like. Taliban are an extremist group of people just as Shiv Sena are; Taliban consider themselves a political force too just as Shiv Sena does. The comparison is vital! But than, Bal Thakery needs global publicity like every person does, and in today's world, it only comes by bad mouthing Muslims around the world or Pakistanis too for that matter. waisay bhi, his party doesnt even spare the fellow Mumbai residents, let alone Pakistanis (Examples: comments against Shahrukh Khan, Jaya Bachchan etc).

Shiv Sena dose represent a part of Maharashtra but India is very big and at the national level Shiv Sena is insignificant.

With these contrasting pictures, it's hard to know how the majority of Indians really feal post 26/11. So much of the Indian blogosphere is so hostile to Pakistan that it's easy to think that other than hate, there is nothing else left in their emotions for Pakistan and Pakistanis.

Ashutosh | 13 years ago | Reply Dear Ms. Kashif, I only said that people in Pakistan had often quoted their terrorists with a less tolerant political party in India. Shiv Sena is no saint. They often protest with a vengeance and "often cross the limits" that a genuine democracy approves. They leaders and workers had often been taken into custody but had escaped with little or no punishment. You know protesting is their democratic right. I am a North Indian and had faced confrontation of these local political parties in Mumbai. But this probably dose not put my life in danger and I continue to maintain offices and frequently visit Mumbai. This is not true with terrorists like Taliban against whom Pakistan had deployed their army.

Learn the lesson from the comedians who went to India and were hushed back after the Mumbai attacks (26/11 as they refer to it: an excellent effort in trying to relate it to 9/11 in any way possible: bhaiya every day in Indian Kashmir, Palestine, Waziristan, Iraq is a 26/11 for them)

They are neither Right wing nor left; their "Wings" intermingle with the Taliban ideologies to the core. And I agree with SA; you throw the word Muslim in a news and you got yourself a story. Unfortunately, Shiv Sena isnt even a party that's pro every Indian either. Bal Thakery has had numerous hate comments against the North Indians, South Indians, even the Bihaaris at a certain time period.

They do not have any terror training camp nor they use guns or bombs to kill people. However, they are right wing political ideology and often involved in violent protest and crossing limits with little or no shame.
