Being the superstar that he is, Shahrukh Khan is known to promote his movies extensively. From reality shows to worldwide press events and even live chats with fans, SRK pulls off every gimmick that he possibly can to publicise his ventures. This is also probably why his movies end up as headlines in countless magazines and, more than often, end up breaking records on their first weekend of business.

Such has also been the case with SRK’s recently released movie, Chennai Express, which has been labeled as the first movie to have made INR1 billion in the shortest time frame, despite receiving average reviews from critics. While many are in awe of the actor’s promotional skills, he clearly states that he is no marketing guru. According to the Times of India, SRK says that he only likes to inform his audience about his movies.

“I am not a marketing guru or a romantic hero. I promote my film to inform my audience about it. I feel that since they have to shell so much money to watch a film, they have the right to know about it. I inform my audience and give a brief overview of it,” the 47-year-old actor said.

Previously, the actor had gone out and about to promote his super-hero flick and home production, Ra.One, which, did not fare so well compared to his other films. The actor promoted the movie over a period of 10 months with a budget of INR400 million, reported India Today.

“I promoted Ra.One fanatically because it was a new genre in India. I didn’t promote Jab Tak Hai Jaan much because it was a love story and Yash uncle’s sudden death saddened me,” he said. “I have been talking about Chennai Express a lot because many think it’s an action film but it’s an out and out comedy. I love to live with my films.”

Chennai Express has been directed by Rohit Shetty, who has witnessed his due share of success through the Golmaal franchise. The movie has been co-produced by Disney-UTV and SRK’s own banner Red Chillies Entertainments, who are undoubtedly floating high in the sky as the movie continues to break records and reap higher revenues.
