Development projects: WAPDA reaffirms commitment on Independence Day

Wapda is working tirelessly for construction of water reservoirs for agricultural purposes, says Wapda Chairman.

A simple ceremony was held here at Wapda House on Wednesday to celebrate Independence Day with zeal and zest. Chairman Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) Syed Raghib Abbas Shah who was the chief guest on the occasion, hoisted the national flag at Convention Centre, Islamabad.


The chairman said that Wapda is working tirelessly for low-cost hydropower production and construction of water reservoirs for agricultural purposes. He said that in accordance with the federal government’s vision, a number of mega hydropower and water projects will be completed in a few years.

He said that the addition of substantial low-cost hydropower in the national grid will help overcome energy shortages in the country.

The ceremony was attended by Managing Director (Administration) WAPDA Yousaf Naseem Khokhar, Member (Water) Husnain Afzaal, Member (Power) Rizwan Ahmad, Member (Finance) Nazakat Ali Shah, Secretary Syed Khalid Akhlaq Gillani, senior officers and employees and their children.
