Pakistan accused Indian troops of firing shells across the disputed border in Kashmir on Monday after last week's killing of Indian soldiers set off a wave of skirmishes between the two nuclear-armed rivals. According to the spokesperson, Pakistan should also take action against Hafiz Saeed in order to help the Pakistan-India relationship. Saeed is alleged to be responsible for the 2008 Mumbai attacks in India.
Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had called for a “new beginning” in relations with India amid high tension over the disputed region of Kashmir, in comments published Tuesday.
Sharif said it was vital India and Pakistan became “good friends”, in remarks published Tuesday by the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), the state news agency.
Clashes in recent weeks across the heavily militarised Line of Control (LoC), which divides the Himalayan territory between India and Pakistan, have raised the temperature between the nuclear-armed neighbours.
