Corporal Mushtaq was commissioned on August 9, 2013 and received the sword from the Countess of Essex on the same day during the Sovereign's Day Parade.
A press release received from London on Monday stated that the distinction has carried forward the baton of success and high standards typically displayed by Pakistani cadets at Sandhurst.
RMAS is the training hub for all British army officers. Every year, the academy holds three Sovereign's Parades to mark the passing out of its cadets from Senior Division.
Amongst the awards handed out to outstanding cadets, the overseas Sword of Honour is awarded to the Cadet considered by the Commandant to be the best one amongst all Cadets sent in by foreign armies for the course.
Corporal Asad, a cadet at the Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul, expressed his resolve to serve the nation in line with the traditions of Pakistan Army.
He dedicated his sword to all martyrs and troops of the Pakistan Army currently engaged against terrorism.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by the High Commissioner of Pakistan and Army & Air Adviser at Pakistan High Commission Colonel Muhammad Zulfiqar Bhatti.
Later, a reception was also held at Pakistan High Commission, London in his honour.

where is kamran khan ,the anchor with all the negative news about Pakistan
Congratulations Asad Mushtaq - may you continue to make Pakistan proud.
To all the pessimists out there: a Pakistani has achieved something that the nation can be proud of. Please, for a change, try to be happy for him rather than using this as an opportunity to criticise and complain.
wonderful Pakistan's PMA every year produces brilliant officers
ALI RAZA KHAN,,,,YOU HAVE DONE US PROUD.WINNING A SWORD OF HONOUR IS NO SMALL FEAT AND THAT TOO AT SANDHURST...MAY ALLAH BLESS YOU WITH A BRILLIANT FUTURE IN THE PAKISTAN ARMY. PAKISTAN ZINDABAD.
@Qamar Nawaz: I wonder who in the generation of Musharaf had ever served in the British indian army sir know your facts again. If you are fit enough you are selected if you are not you are rejected or screened out. Its fate people should accept that and move on. Regards
@Ch. Allah Daad: Again Sir I would ask you not to poke your racial ego in to professional matters of the army and its command staff and promotion structure, when you could not defend your claims on musharraf you switched over to another topic. Kargil's planning and surprise is taught in most war courses in India, Indias generals have been court martialed on Kargil. PA hacked in to Indian army's morale, they had to send their song writers actors singers and dancers to make them go up and fight.India ran out of body bags coffins and had to airlift artillery and other LGB bombs from Israel. Kargil should have been brought to its logical end. I wonder how could Gen. Hamid Gul, Gen Zia ul haq and Gen aslam beg considered him fone of the best officers and all three recommended him to head the siachen brigade that he did with full battle honors. I hope you have read he even went in to kargil as COAS to spent two nights with his troops there. Again this discussion is irrelevant to the topic. By the way Lt.Gen. Ali Quli Khan with no battle honors also graduated from sandhurst. That is why I say know your facts sir. Thanks
"...........expressed his resolve to serve the nation in line with the traditions of Pakistan Army."
AH GREAT!!
That's our boy!
Winning this prestigious honor has become a tradition for Pakistan Army Cadets.
Best at home, best in the world!
@Ch. Allah Daad: "The stories of 65 and 71 were fabricated to get promotions." ... You don't know jack about anything at all and its a mere wastage of time in responding to obnoxious statements. He's one of the most brave and decorated general of his time, 48 year old records in their respective frame of time states that; I don't. PK Army is an institution with dignity, rules, discipline, regulations and objectivity whilst being professional at all times. You please don't stress yourself too much in these matters.
@Karachiwala: Wining a sword of honour at British Military Academy does not make an Pakistani Officer loyal to English Queen, holding a British passport, does.
@Omer: Musharaf defended Siachen? That's a news. The fact is that, Musharaf is responsible for Kargil humiliation, removed elected government, conspired against his own country, sold its nationals to foreign invaders. The stories of 65 and 71 were fabricated to get promotions.
@ Umer, ' Do not poke your racial ego in to professional matters of the army.' Racial ego? When Army inducts only children of Khaki men as commissioned officers, it becomes a race.
proud moment :)
@Ch. Allah Daad: Sir Musharraf and gen JK are the only ones to head pak army with battle honors of 65 and 71. Musharraf's battle honors outweigh any of the present and previous lot of generals in Pakistan army. To say the least if you know hes the only chief of Pakistan army who has defended Pakistan at siachen as a brigade commander and defending soltoro ridge against a formidable Indian army onslaught where Pakistani army was out gunned and out numbered, otherwise your prized k2 would have been occupied by India. At the time of the selection and nomination he was one of the 3 senior most generals so he was perfectly placed to be the chief. Do not poke your racial ego in to professional matters of the army.
You make us proud.
A whiff of fresh air in this pall of gloom
Mubarak ho! Viva! Congratulations Corporal Asad! Your spirit of dedication and application has brought you this prestigious award. The nation is very happy to receive this piece of good news. Salams
Funny, the same crown we took independence from is giving us sword.
@Ch. Allah Daad: Also, why do so many smart and intelligent people who actually are PM material are left out and we are stuck with someone like Mr.NS!
@Truth Hurts: ".....on doing something they’ve never actually managed – win a war".
As they say “If you think education is expensive, try ignorance".
@Ch. Allah Daad
Wasn't it your very own Mian Sahab who promoted Musharraf, out of turn, in appointing a (presumably) a yes man back in his second tenure?
Congratulations to this young man!
No doubt the Pak forces have some brilliant minds and brave soldiers in their ranks. Now if only they would use those brilliant minds and give up their incessant need to interfere in Pakistan's governance and focus on doing something they've never actually managed - win a war.
What an honor! Keep it up, young man, and maybe the sacrifices of your fellow officers and soldiers not be in vain! We will fight terrorists till the end! All politics and army-bashing aside, officers like you make us proud.
Many proud and brilliant young men join Pak army but majority of them retire as Majors and Colonels. The crap (with some exception) which consists of conspirators and yes men get promotions beyond these ranks. The people of Pakistan have every right to know why officers like Musharaf get promotions and so many smart and brave officers are filtered out.
Pakistani soldier holding a sword of the queen...hmm why cant i hold a passport and still considered loyal to Pakistan? please can some one clarify my dilemma, the article just report the ceremony-
Felicitations to our brave soldier for showing distinction at abroad.
Awesome, you have made all of Pakistan proud!
Congratulations to you cadet, to your noble institution and your family. You have brought honor to a deeply troubled nation.
