Speeding Rickshaw: One killed, six injured on road

A woman died and six others were injured when a rickshaw plunged into a ditch near Bakery Chowk.

RAWALPINDI: A woman died and six others were injured when a rickshaw plunged into a ditch near Bakery Chowk late on Sunday night.

A Rescue 1122 official said the driver, who was speeding, lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the accident which left all onboard injured.

“The injured include four women, two children and the driver,” he said, adding they were shifted to DHQ hospital, where one of the women was pronounced dead on arrival.

The official said the woman had sustained multiple injuries and died of blood loss. DHQ sources said the other injured persons are stable and will be discharged soon.

The deceased was identified as Razia, 40, while the injured are Nadeem, 35, Mujtaba, 30, Hammad, Sharez, Sofia and Zeeshan.
