LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge has granted pre-arrest bail to a man accused of rape and robbery and summoned the complainant and the police record for August 19.

The petitioner, Muhammad Sajjad, was granted bail at Rs50,000.

He submitted in his bail application that he had nothing to do with the case and had been falsely accused in an attempt at blackmail.

The complainant said that her husband was out of town and she was home alone preparing sehri at the time.

She alleged that Sajjad and Imtiaz raped her and they stole Rs85,000 and jewellery from her.

The case was registered under Sections 376(ii) (punishment for rape by two or more persons), 380 (theft) and 337-L(ii) (punishment for ‘other’ hurt).
