Crime roundup: Six people killed in separate acts of violence

Lyari gangsters go on killing spree following attack on Ladla’s sibling.

KARACHI:
At least six people were killed in separate acts of violence in the city, on Monday.

According to sources, a brother of one of Lyari’s most notorious gangsters, Baba Ladla, narrowly escaped an attack at Alfalah Road, in the limits of Chakiwara police station. Following the incident, over a dozen unidentified motorcyclists ambushed the Kutchi community area at Alfalah Road. The ensuing gunfire resulted in the death of at least two people while injuring six others. The gunfire lasted for about three hours, following which, the gangsters escaped from the scene, leaving behind the victims’ dead bodies lying in the middle of the road. Meanwhile, the injured were shifted to Civil Hospital, Karachi, for treatment. The identities of the deceased could not be ascertained while the injured were identified as Iqbal Ahmed, Ibrahim, Imran, Sadiq, Sameer and Shafqat. No case was registered till the filing of this report.

In a separate incident, unidentified motorcyclists killed a 22-year-old man and dumped his body at Abal Chowk. According to the police, the victim had been abducted earlier from an unknown location. The identity of the victim is yet to be ascertained.


Separately, Sharae Faisal police found bullet-riddled bodies of two men, identified as Sajjad and Azmat, from inside a car near Pehlwan Goth at Gulistan-e-Jauhar. The victims were reportedly sympathisers of the Awami National Party.

In another incident, SITE-B police found another bullet-riddled body near Ali enterprises at Saeedabad. Police said that the victim was 35 years old, however, he could not be identified yet. The body moved to Civil hospital for autopsy.
