The authorities failed to check one-wheeling during the Eid holidays, as stunt-driving bikers ran rampant on the city’s roads.
A resident of the Committee Chowk said motorcyclists not only put their own lives at risk by resorting to wheeling but also endangered the lives of pedestrians and other drivers.
“One-wheeling youngsters were unabated despite claims by the police and authorities to have taken steps to enforce the ban,” he said.
Though traffic wardens had been deployed on major city roads during the Eid holidays, they failed to rein-in the thrill-seeking teenagers.
One-wheeler Mohsin said before attempting stunts, he evaluates police response time. He added that most wheelers prefer wide roads such as Benazir Bhutto Road.
“It is a serious problem as accidents caused by stunt driving occur very regularly. We are working continuously to check the menace, but most motorcyclists escape arrests,” said a traffic police officer.
