Government ends peace deal with Kulachi tribes
Security forces begin conducting targeted operations in Kulachi, surrounding areas.
DI KHAN:
The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government ended a peace deal with local tribes in Kulachi district near Dera Ismail Khan on Sunday, reported Express News.
The security forces began conducting targeted operations in Kulachi, Kot Doulat, Sultan, Loi and Garmastanand Madi areas after the deal was called off. Several suspects were also apprehended during the operations.
Three years ago, the government had signed a peace pact with the tribesmen of Kulachi that the locals will not be against the government and will not support anti-state elements. The locals also said that they would not let their land be used by militants.
However, according to one official who is a part of the DI Khan jail break investigation team, it was revealed that the militants used Kulachi and its outskirts for their movement during the attack on the jail.
Considering the act in violation of the pact, the government struck the deal off today.
Earlier during the day, the security forces also conducted an operation in DI Khan, recovering weapons and a suicide jacket.
