Eid marks the end of holy month of Ramazan for Muslims worldwide and will be celebrated in Pakistan tomorrow, August9.
Addressing a press conference, Rehman said that testimonies of the moon being sighted were received from Islamabad, Mazaffargarh, Jhang, Jacobabad, Sanghar, Okara, Bunair, Swat, Zhob and Badin.
The various zonal Ruet-e-Hilal commttees had convened a meeting to sight the moon in major cities of the country while the Central Ruet-e-Hilal committee meeting was held at Meteorological office in Karachi.
Chairman Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Muneebur Rehman said, "I am not an astrologer or a fortune teller. The decision will be made on the basis of evidence."
"We will inform the entire nation once we have decided if the moon has been sighted," he added.
The official announcement of the sighting of the Shawwal moon was made after consulting all the committees.
The meeting of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was attended by Qari Hanif Jalandhari, Mufti Ibrahim Qadri, Maulana Asad Deobandi, Hafiz Mohammad Salafi, Pir Syed Ali Shah Jilani, Mufti Abdul Sattar Haqqani, Maulana Syed Sabir Hasan, Maulana Sabir Noorani. Allama Ali Qarar Naqvi andMaulani Ferozuddin Rabbani.
Chairman Ruet-e-Hilal Committee extended his gratitude to the religious scholars of Peshawar for their cooperation and help in the meetings leading up to the moon sighting.

We can't have more than 30 ramazan,hence you didn't celebrate eid on Thursday,it was well known it gonna be Friday no need of being a fortune teller or wat.

It is illiterate people like you which has damaged the Islam most. In a Islamic calendar, if moon is sighted on 29th, then a month is of 29 days otherwise 30 days, No matter the moon is sighted or not on 30th of a month.

Sun and Moon were followed in Pre-historic times to determine time, and stars were followed to determine directions. After invention of clock there was no need to follow sun and moon for time. Somehow muslims could not advance themselves to achieve better innovations in science and technology. Among muslims, belief is given more preference to innovation. Also moon is followed only to determine Eid and Ramadan now a days and solar calendar (Gregorian calendar) is being followed for all other activities.

The moon follows a specific orbit, It will come out regardless of how many people witness it. This committee is a waste of everyone's time. It would be nice if we made the Islamic calender a practical measure of keeping the year in Pakistan. Imagine if we had exams scheduled based on the Islamic Calendar!!! How can we follow such a group of xxfxgxgfxgfxxxx, what a sham.....
Except Moon sighting to start Islamic month, everything else is set with Sun sighting e.g. prayer timings, Iftar and Sahar, Hajj rituals, and so many other Islamic traditions. Why we don't seek help from those who tell us exact sun rise and sun set timings. I haven't heard any Mullah rejecting Solar timings, although its information is also conveyed to us by scientists.
@A. khan: Here comes people using their own rulings without having the knowledge of shariah. Please consult some Alim and you will clearly know that Eid can differ from country to country.
RHC should be disbanded. Its a relic of Zia-ul-Haq and is useless at bringing consensus in country in terms of having a single day for start of Ramadhan or Eid. Pakistan is always unique in having its own timetable for all things Islamic.
Someone please explain how Eid-ul-Azha can be two days after Hajj. Does the RHC have its own schedule for Hajj as well ?

Chairman Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Muneebur Rehman announced on Thursday. This Mufti is having some eye sight problem. Most of the Arab World celebrated EID today itself after sighting the moon yesterday. There is no meaning to allow these half baked muftis to announce EID celebrations. Instead this aspect should be left to the Science and Technology ministry.

EID Day is a day of celebration but I feel sad for those who lost their beloved ones in terrorist activities. Where is PM who just issues a condemn statements on the loss of innocent lives. I don't feel anything good to celebrate this EID, m with mourners of brave Pakistani martyrs.
