"I understand these are new reports since then (yesterday). We, of course, are aware of them," State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki said, when asked about protests in New Delhi during Wednesday’s briefing.
"We are concerned about any violence, as always, along the Line of Control. We understand the governments of India and Pakistan are in contact over the issue. We continue to encourage, of course, further dialogue. That is the best step to resolve," she said.
"We are encouraging them to continue their dialogue, and we are hopeful that will take place."
Ban Ki Moon calls for restraint
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Wednesday called for restraint amid mounting tensions between Pakistan and India that triggered a protest demonstration in front of the Pakistani High commission in New Delhi.
"The secretary-general is closely monitoring developments," the Secretary-General's spokesperson Martin Nesirky, said in response to a question.
"He (the secretary-general) has repeatedly called on all concerned to exercise restraint and to solve issues peacefully."

Once again a crucial stage has come which put Indian and pakistan in a tough condition. both the military leaders looks in motion controling the situation but opposition in India igniting the newly raised issue..
No doubt issue is very sensitive which compelled the high profiles such as American State Depart and the United Nation secretary general to rais their vioce in favour of restraint.
No doubt, as the whole world admitt that,Kashmire is flesh point between Indian and Pakistan two are the neighbers and have borders with eachother and two are the nuclear powers and have mass destructive atomic weapons in their stockpile.
United Nation as a global institution of peace has some concerned and reservations but I am very sad to say it has played no remarkable role in tthis connectio,on the other hand ,single super power has also been failed setting the issue between the two countries notewith standing the fact that three wars were fought which claimed thousand lives from both sides.
Only lip service is not enough,both power United nations and The United states should moved forward and put the parties concerned across the negotiating table and solve the issue peacefully.
As for as the killing of Indian soldier is concerned no doubt it is an unprovoked but in view of the refusal by Pakistan it needs fair and impartial investigation thereafter punishment can be awarded to the responsible. concerned quarters.
Uncle Sam should stay out of this as their Foreign Policy, needs lot to be desired ! India does not need any third party intervention, nor does it seek advice from anyone, in regards to their own relationships. The proposed talks will be put on hold and hopefully India will have an Govt with will to deal with Pakistan next year.
Why don't both countries understand that peaceful ties between them will benefit them both. It'll give both countries a chance to focus more on the never ending internal issues facing their people. For once, don't let petty politics drag the fate of millions down the gutter!
The rich and powerful do not want peace. They want hatred to spread for their own vested interests. Who cares about poor public on both sides of the border? America should be ashamed of their advice for peace. Instead they should provide us more weapons and keep throwing oil on the fire not water.
Indian foreign office should release the following statement : Regarding the violence in Afghanistan and elsewhere between USA and Taliban/Al-Qaida “We are concerned about any violence, as always. We understand the governments of USA and Emir of Taliban are in contact over the issue. We continue to encourage, of course, further dialogue. That is the best step to resolve,” “We are encouraging them to continue their dialogue, and we are hopeful that will take place.”
