NEW DEHLI: Indian police searched the Commonwealth Games athletes' village on Tuesday after receiving an anonymous call warning of a bomb, a police spokesman told AFP.

“The police control room received a telephone call from an anonymous caller who said there is a bomb in the village,” spokesman Rajan Bhagat said.

He declined to say how credible the threat was but explained that no-one had been evacuated.

"An anti-sabotage operation is currently on in the village," the official said, adding that explosives experts were checking the sprawling facility.

The fenced-off village is guarded by hundreds of troopers and policemen and unauthorised entry is banned.
