PESHAWAR: Representatives from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar and North Dakota State University (NDSU) USA held a meeting via video conferencing on Wednesday to discuss projects of mutual collaboration.

The delegation from NDSU comprised Associate Vice President Professor Kalidas Shetty, Professor Dr Samee U Khan from the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department and International Students Office Director Lisa Hauck.

The delegation from UET was led by Faculty of Engineering Dean Professor Dr Zahid Mehmood, while Electrical Engineering Department Chairman Professor Dr Mohammad Inayatullah Khan Babar briefed participants about their existing setup and available facilities in UET.

Both universities decided to explore the possibility of working together in terms of capacity building and joint research projects. The delegations discussed opportunities to build long-term collaboration and identified some key areas to work on such as initiating doctoral degree programmes with focus on electrical and power systems engineering and energy generation, including renewable energy sources.

Members expressed hope that the initial meeting between the two universities will help in identifying other areas they can work together in.

“The foundation has been laid for specific agreements on collaborative research for doctoral programmes,” said Dr Mehmood, adding the meeting would provide momentum for continuous and long-term engagement between UET and NDSU.
