The three men who were identified as Akram, Munnawar and Haider attempted to extort money from a Dr Shehzad.
They demanded two million rupees per month and when he refused, they threatened to kill him.
With the help of the police, a drop off point was determined and when Dr Shehzad reached the location, the three men were taken into custody.
Extortion has been rampant in the country and this is not the first case such an incident has occurred. Unidentified men attacked a house in Shabqadar, Charsadda for a third time after the resident refused to pay extortion money.
A shop was attacked in Karachi on July 25th for non-payment of extortion money. Before that, two people were injured when an explosion took place near a mosque in Sikandarpurah on 21st July.

Organized crime is taking roots in Lahore. Educated criminals are much more innovative than the illiterate ones. Worse days are ahead.
If you cannot show photos of the criminals, at least you can show photos of those who made the arrest. A reward to those who set up the trap and their photos would be welcome.
Its nice to see these extortionists in handcuffs. Good job by police. Everyone should show same courage to eradicate these criminals.
@Humayun: Good thing that the authorities are not allowing this thing to go on in Lahore and Punjab. Good work by the law enforcement people to stop this type of extortion right away!
This is going to be way of life in Pakistan for next 5 years
@Solomon2: No.. you will not even the pictures of these culprits to at least warn the public of their identities!!
Amazing. Will we hear more about the prosecution and sentencing of the accused extortionists from the Express Tribune?
