Private bank branch blown up in Mardan

The bomb exploded in a crowded Takht Bhai Bazaar but fortunately there was no loss of life.

MARDAN: An Allied Bank branch Takht Bhai Bazaar of Mardan district was partially damaged when a bomb planted by unknown militants detonated on Tuesday evening.

Bakhtzada, an official of Takht Bhai police said that the explosion was heard across a large area and had spread immense panic amongst locals.

Investigation of explosion revealed that the bomb had been planted in the main power generator of the bank. The generator is installed outside the main building.

The official stated that soon after the incident, police surrounded the bank building and summoned the Bomb Disposal Squad officials to come and clear the area.

He added that although the market was crowded at the time of the explosion, no loss of life was reported.
